GORSEHILL ABBEY CHEESE

St Kenelm

This hard cheese is  crumbly with a slight sharpness but a creamy flavour.  It is usually matured from two to six months, and develops a richer tang as it ages.

It was named after the boy king of the ancient kingdom of Mercia, whose capital was in nearby Winchcombe.  He was reputedly murdered on the orders of his sister while hunting in the Clent Hills and buried in Winchcombe Abbey
